OAIC, UN women partner to combat gender-based violence

by admin

The Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) has partnered with the United Nations (UN) Women to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The two-day workshop, which is a collaboration between OAIC, UN Women, LEAP, and the Ford Foundation is targeted at educating religious leaders on how to prevent GBV.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the workshop aims to raise awareness about GBV, its causes, prevention, and the role religious leaders can play in eradicating it.

National president Baba Aladura, Israel Akinadewo, emphasised the importance of involving religious leaders and individuals in the fight against violence, especially towards women.

The workshop is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 18 in Ikeja, Lagos.
