Super Falcons To Play Algeria In Double header Friendly

by admin

Nigeria will play host to Algeria in two international women’s friendly matches on October 26 and 29, respectively.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will reportedly organise the games.

The Super Falcons will begin their rebuilding process under interim manager Justin Madugu, who took over for departing coach Randy Waldrum, with the friendlies.

Algerian sources disclosed that the Super Falcons, a domestic team, will play both legs of the two-leg friendly match between West Africans and their North African counterparts.

Nigeria is playing these matches in anticipation of the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Morocco, when the Super Falcons will try to win their 10th championship in 13 years.

Algeria, meanwhile, will be attempting to make their sixth appearance at the continental competition after joining Nigeria as one of the 12 countries that qualified in late 2023 to guarantee their spot at the AWCON the following year.

Madugu will use these friendlies as a critical chance to evaluate the team’s preparedness for the forthcoming tests, which include the women’s Afcon.

As the Super Falcons embark on a new chapter in their pursuit of regional and international glory, they will be looking to hone their strategies, improve team dynamics, and instill confidence.

Nigeria is attempting to reclaim its hegemony on the continent, while Algeria has been a consistent presence in North African women’s football throughout the years.

The friendly matches’ location has not yet been disclosed, but more information should be available soon.

However, these games are a crucial step in the Super Falcons’ quest to take back the top spot in African women’s football.
