In the rescheduled Matchday 6 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League, played at the Umuahia Township Stadium Abia Warriors defeated visiting Kwara United.

Sunday Megwo proved to be Kwara United Football’s archenemy once more, scoring a goal in the second half to give Abia Warriors of Umuahia a well-earned 1-0 victory.

The scheduled game was rescheduled for the next day, October 12, 2024, due to excessive rain that left the field unusable for play.

Following discussions with the league organisers, match officials, and representatives from both clubs, Match Commissioner Oedema Fuludu rescheduled the game for Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 8 a.m.

Imama Amapakabo, the coach of Abia Warriors, made just one substitution to the team that was defeated by Rangers in Enugu last time out, starting Daniel Ekpo ahead of fellow left-footer Ayodele Ezekiel.

The game was amazing, captivating, and amusing, thus it lived up to the hype.

After a sluggish beginning for Umu Chineke, Kwara United, under the guidance of former Abia Warriors assistant coach Tunde Sani, took the game to the home team, with midfielder Shola Abdulraheem directing play.

Even though they dominated the first part of the game, they were unable to capitalise on a clear-cut opportunity to score, and the home team steadily gained momentum.
The first half finished goalless, and the throngs of spectators that flocked the stadium.

The Pride of Abia took the game to the visitors in the second period.

The visitors sat back to absorb the pressure as assault after attack was launched.

Amapakabo substituted Emmanuel Onu and Ayodele Ezekiel for Paul Sampson and Daniel Ekpo in the 62nd minute, and it was the latter who provided the assist for the goal twelve minutes later.

Ayodele Ezekiel squared a freekick expertly deep in Kwara United’s half, and Sunday Megwo leaped to the highest point to head home for Abia Warriors and his second of the year.

Megwo scored his second goal in as many seasons against Kwara United.
