Congress: Kogi PDP accepts Joe Agada’s withdrawal from chairmanship race

by admin

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Congress Committee has accepted Captain Joe Agada’s withdrawal from the chairmanship race in Kogi State.

It was gathered that Agada announced his withdrawal from the race on Saturday morning.

In a statement signed by the Head of Media Committee, Comrade Usman Okai Austin, the Congress said it has accepted the decision of Agada to withdraw from the race and wished him the best of luck.

Okai described Agada’s earlier expectation to be announced unopposed as “outdated and anti-democratic.”

He dismissed Agada’s reasons for withdrawal as “mere excuses” and emphasised that the party will no longer yield to emotional blackmail.

The statement reiterated that the conduct of the state congress is strictly reserved for the PDP National Working Committee, not a caretaker committee under Senator Danjuma Lah.

“The party remains committed to ensuring free and fair processes in all its democratic activities,” he said.

Earleir, the party had assured its members and the public of a smooth and successful state congress scheduled for today, Saturday.

The party said all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the congress is both free and fair, with all legal and constitutional requirements fully met.
