LG Poll: Kwara agency warns against indiscriminate pasting of campaign posters

by admin

The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has warned against indiscriminate erection of boards and posters in the build-up to the local government elections scheduled for September in the state.

The General Manager of KWASAA, Al-Imam Ismail Asukuti issued the warning while answering questions on a Radio Kwara 99.1 FM station’s personalities interview programme titled, ‘Gbagede oro’.

He urged political parties to consult the agency before erecting their billboards, reiterating the need for politicians and the general public to desist from placing posters on government structures.

A statement by KWASAA spokesman, Abubakar Owolabi, in Ilorin on Friday, warned that the agency will continue to remove unauthorized posters and billboards.

Asukuti, who commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for giving the agency a free hand to operate, assured politicians of fairness in the allocation of space to paste their posters and billboards.

He disclosed that the agency has provided some boards at strategic places free of charge for public use. The areas include Unity Road, Post Office and Saint Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin, among others.
