All the three second-class emirs of the new emirates will be answerable to the emir of Kano, whose status is first class.

The appointments were made after Governor Yusuf gave assent to the Kano State Emirates Council Law 2024, which approves the establishment of three second-class emirates in the state.

The law, which was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bututu, was on Tuesday passed by the Assembly during a plenary session presided by Speaker Jibrin Falgore.

While congratulating the second class emirs of the newly created emirates, the governor urged them to diligently serve humanity, as custodians of culture, peace and unity of the people in their respective emirates.

“This development underscores our unwavering commitment to preserving our traditional institutions and cultural heritage, recognising them as essential pillars of peace and heritage conservation,” the Governor said.
