Kidnapped Kaduna Journalists Regain Freedom

Exactly a week after their abduction in Kaduna, two journalists working with The Nation and Blueprint newspapers have reportedly been released by their abductors.

The reporters, Alhaji AbdulGafar Alabelewe and AbdulRaheem Aodu were kidnapped last Saturday, July 6, 2024 alongside their wives and children.

A reliable source from the family confirmed their release on Saturday.

It would be recalled that bandits in their large numbers, stormed Danhonu 2 Community in the Millennium City of Chikun local government area of the state, abducting the reporters from their homes.

Alhaji Alabelewe was kidnapped alongside his wife and two of his children, while Alhaji Aodu and his wife were also kidnapped before the wife was dumped in the bush due to her health.

Although the released journalists are yet to arrive Kaduna as at the time of this report, the family source authoritatively confirmed their release.

The source commended the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Kaduna State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) for their efforts in seeing to their release.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Munsir Hassan could not be reached for official confirmation as at the time of filing this report.
