The Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, in Adamawa State, has vowed to flush out criminals hiding in forest reserves across the country.
The Commandant, Directorate of Hunting and Forestry of the Nigerian Hunter and Forest Security Service, Aisha Bakari Gombi, who spoke in Yola, said they are ready to go into the forests to flush out criminals.
“We are not in competition with other agencies but we are out to complement their jobs”
She also said that they will continue to provide intelligence to support all ongoing efforts of security agencies to rid the states of banditry.
“This is the time for all hands to be on deck. We cannot leave it all to the government”
“As an organisation whose primary place of assignment is in the forest, NHFSS has come to lend a helping hand and to synergize with other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property”
For his part, the Royal Father posited that efforts of the conventional security agents could be completed by the forest and hunters security service to enhance the security architecture of the country.
The Lamido of Adamawa who expressed delight over the award said the presence of forest security would benefit the Nigeria society especially in areas of food production and security.
The AC Admin Adamawa State Hassan Adamu said “We have been trained, we are Organised and we have our people in all the nooks and crannies, ranging from the unit level to the ward level, to the state”
For his part, the Commandant national legal, Barrier Aliyu Bawuro has urged the House of Representatives to expedite the process of concurrence on the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service Establishment Bill, which had been passed into law by the Senate.
NHFSS also appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to Bill establishing the security outfit when eventually passed into law by the National Assembly and transmitted to the President”.
The commandant said the hunters and forest security service is ready towards protecting and safeguarding the forest against bandits, killer herdsmen and other criminal gangs.
