The Rivers State House of Assembly at its 92nd Legislative Sitting screened and confirmed the nomination of Resigned Commissioner nominees to serve as commissioners and members of the Rivers State Executive Council.

This is the sequel to a letter read on the Floor of the House, by the speaker Rt Hon. Martin Amaewhule which was forwarded to the House by the Governor of the State, Siminialayi Fubara, praying the House to screen and confirm the nominees, under Section 192 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The House accordingly through majority leader Major Jack moved that the nominees should take a bow and go
Commenting on the working relationship between the Rivers State House of Assembly and Government House, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule condemned in strong terms the behaviour of staff of Government House towards receiving mail emanating from the Rivers State House of Assembly.
He added that Resolutions of the House are religiously transmitted to the office of the Governor, but staff of the Government House often decline to receive such Resolutions.
Speaker Amaewhule warned that if such acts continue, the House assembly will cease to receive letters from the office of the Governor.
The commissioners had, in November last year, tendered their resignation letters amid the face-off between Fubara and his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
