The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Edbetokun led some top Nigerian Police officers on a visit to Governor Umaru Fintiri in the Government House, Yola as part of his working visit in Adamawa state.
He described the clash which led to the killing of one Police Officer as unfortunate. He assured that the situation is being handled and justice will he done at the end of the investigation.
IGP Egbetokun revealed his vision in the Force to include to make the police friendly to the citizens, support the agenda of government and respond adequately to the dynamics of crimes and criminality.
Responding, Governor Fintiri commended IGP Egbetokun for bringing changes in the Nigerian Police Force such as improving the welfare of the personnel, saying the country has gotten the right man in the right place.
Governor Fintiri requested the establishment of police mobile training school in Mbamba, Yola as part of the commitment to boost security of lives and property in Adamawa and Nigeria.
He noted with concern the recent clash between Police and Military officers in Yola, the state capital and assured that as the Chief Security Officer in the State, such incident will never repeat itself.
The Governor appreciated the visit by the IGP, and assured his administration’s commitment to continue to support the Nigerian Police and all other security agencies for improved security in the state.
