The Nigerian federal government, through the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has released 2,416 bags of assorted food items as palliatives to residents of AMAC.
During the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of these palliatives, the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu reiterated that the initiative aims to address the ongoing food crisis and provide relief.
The distribution will cover the twelve political wards within AMAC, ensuring that all beneficiaries receive their share regardless of political affiliations, religious beliefs, or tribal backgrounds.
Maikalangu urged beneficiaries to remain law-abiding and not to cause disruptions during the distribution process.
He issued a stern warning to beneficiaries of the federal government palliative program, emphasizing that the provided food items are strictly for vulnerable residents and should not be sold.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for their efforts in alleviating the hardships faced by many Nigerians through this palliative scheme.
Hon. Zakari Biu, the Supervisory Councillor in charge of Agriculture, provided details of the distributed items: 1,000 bags of rice (25kg), 500 bags of maize (50kg), 693 bags of guinea corn (50kg), 120 bags of millet (50kg), and 103 bags of garri (25kg).
He also introduced the committee members appointed by the FCTA to oversee the fair distribution of these items to the vulnerable residents of AMAC.
