TY Danjuma’s charge to military on insecurity

Furthermore, a former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd), within the week charged the Nigerian military to put an end to the killings across the country as soon as possible. He emphasised that the military had no excuse for not restoring peace in the many troubled areas of the country.

Danjuma made the call at the launch of a book titled Big Boots: ‘Lessons from My Military Service by Major-General Solomon Udonwa (retd) in Abuja on Tuesday.

Lamenting that insecurity remains the country’s greatest challenge, the former army chief stressed that it must be addressed. He said, “The number one problem today is security. We must end the violence and stop the killings happening in our country as soon as possible. Those of you who are still serving have no excuse.”

In response, however, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, stated that the military was well positioned and working tirelessly to restore peace nationwide.

Musa further assured that the armed forces would continue to uphold the values of service, integrity and honour, which are key to military tradition.
