Troops kill eight terrorists, rescue 40 hostages nationwide

Nigerian Army has dealt a significant blow to terrorist groups operating in the country, eliminating eight terrorists and rescuing 40 abducted individuals in a series of coordinated operations across the nation.

According to a statement released by the army on Monday, the successful missions were carried out in Nasarawa, Kaduna, Borno, and Yobe.

In Nasarawa, troops arrested a notorious arms courier, seizing 303 live rounds of ammunition and apprehending the suspect and vehicle.

In Kaduna, precision strikes eliminated one terrorist, while additional engagements led to the annihilation of two more terrorists, with the recovery of a locally made firearm and ammunition.

In Borno, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, hard drugs, and supplies abandoned by fleeing terrorists.

Furthermore, operations in Gwoza Local Government Area resulted in the neutralisation of three terrorists near Ashigashiya village. Troops also intercepted terrorists in Kukawa Local Government Area, rescuing 38 hostages, including six men, eight women, and 24 children.

In Yobe, an ambush in Sasawa village neutralized one terrorist, with the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and motorcycle.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the troops for their bravery and thanked citizens for providing crucial information, emphasising the army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and protecting Nigerian lives.
