Stellenbosch Football Club has officially announced the signing of Nigerian right-back Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill from Rivers United.
Although he joined the club during the off-season, his move was delayed due to work permit issues. Godswill is an experienced defender with eight appearances in the CAF Champions League and 28 appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“First of all, I want to thank God for bringing me here after a long wait,” Godswill said. “I’m very happy to be here and to be part of the Stellenbosch family. It is a great club that has already achieved some great things, like reaching the MTN8 final this season and competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, and I am looking forward to adding to that with my experience.
“I want to contribute positively on the pitch, and I can promise that I will do everything within my reach to ensure that the fans and the coaches are happy.”
He’s also played over 170 games in his career, making him a valuable addition to the Stellenbosch squad. The 25-year-old will likely compete with Kyle Jurgens for the right-back position, which was previously held by Deano Van Rooyen before his departure to Orlando Pirates.
