Repentant Boko-Haram Members Engaged In Sanitation Of Maiduguri-By Sani Adams

Center for democracy and development, CDD has engaged 50 repentant Boko Haram members for the sanitation of their Camps Hajj Camp in Maiduguri.

This leaves the part of majors preparing them for reintegration. A senior research fellow with CDD Prof. Mala Mustapha said those attached to the task have acquired the necessary skills. He said the rationale behind the exercise is to support the Borno State government’s effort to reintegrate the former insurgents into society.

Prof. Mala added that their organisation is targeting four hundred ex-combatant in the exercise, fifty of them have started this week for a start in Maiduguri Hajj Camp, which is a housing for over 12,000 repentant Boko Haram and their Family.

According to him, the exercise will be extended to other communities in Maiduguri and its environs.

For his part, the Special adviser to the Borno State Government on security, General Abdullahi Ishak lauded the initiative by CDD which he said has supported the reintegration process.

The event had the attendance of the coordinator of the CDD for Borno State Steven Amuda and the beneficiaries were provided with sanitation tools such as rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels, and cutlass among other things
