Perhaps this is our problem. We tend to assume that the Nigerian case is special and beyond human understanding.

It goes beyond voting at the polls, it is getting involved from the ground up.

Join a party, pay your dues, attend meetings, shake things up if need be. When it is time to nominate candidates, you most likely will have a say.

More importantly, recognise that making political changes is a marathon not a sprint.

Take the small wins and use them as a springboards to stay motivated and involved.

The new electoral act did wonders for our politics even though we don’t know it yet.

And INEC adopting new technologies is step in the right direction.

As you know, I contested and experienced the worst possible scenario and I dare say throughout Ogun state. Although I didn’t get the outcome that I desire, I did manage to see the system for what it is and more importantly researched available recourse to me. Taking that recourse is not a win but it is not a loss either.

To a degree, I find that we the educated class in Nigeria are victims of our arrogance. QED!

Summary, all politics are local.
