Oyo state set to develop tourism sector

Investors and well meaning Nigerians have been charged to partner with the Oyo State government to develop the tourism sector and position it as a major source of revenue.

The state’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Wasiu Olatunbosun gave this advice in Ibadan at an event to commemorate World Tourism day.

It’s a rich display of culture and the diversity of the rich tourism potentials with which nature has blessed Nigeria’s Pacesetter state, Oyo.

There are about 168 tourist sites in Oyo which have been left to rot away but this gathering of sons and daughters of Ibadanland is a calculated attempt at reviving the ailing sector which authorities here hope can become a major source of revenue generation.

This event is a strategic attempt at creating more awareness on the need for notable sons and daughters of Oyo State to invest in the tourism sector.

The benefits to the Oyo State tourism sector would be enormous if it could get its tourism potential back on track.

Experts have projected that this move would create more employment opportunities and generate more foreign direct investment as well as foreign exchange for the state.
