Osun 2022: PDP’s Adeleke Declared Winner (Watch)

Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke as winer of Osun Governorship Election.

INEC Returning Officer, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, declared Adeleke winner at the end of the collation of the election results.

The electoral commission had earlier assured Nigerians that the election would not be declared inconclusive.

INEC Supervising National Commissioner, Prof Kunle Ajayi, gave the assurance shortly after protesters stormed the Commission’s office to demand conclusion of the exercise on first ballot

Mr Adeleke, a former senator and younger brother to the state’s first governor, Isiaka Adeleke, defeated the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Oyetola convincingly.


Senator Adeleke defeated sitting Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress with 403,371 votes to 375,077 votes.

Adeleke won in 17 local government areas while, Governor Oyetola won in 13 local government areas.
