My strength, faith have kept me going — Davido

Afrobeats superstar, Davido has opened up about his personal experiences with loss and how his faith has played a crucial role in helping him cope during difficult times.

In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, the Nigerian singer reflected on the tragic losses of his mother, Mrs. Victoria Adeleke, and his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi.

“I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going,” Davido shared, adding that he also honors the memories of his close friends Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and his photographer, Fortune, all of whom passed away under tragic circumstances.

Beyond his struggles, Davido opened up about some common misconceptions people have about him. “I think sometimes, people think I am not approachable. Another misconception is that people also think I am too accessible,” Davido said.

He further emphasised the importance of family and credited his musical talent to a divine gift.

“I grew up in a big family, I’m used to having people around me. My talent and success is God-given,” he added.
