Man accused of beating father to death remanded

A man has been arraigned before a Kano Magistrate Court for allegedly beating his biological father to death.

The incident, which occurred at Kunshani Village in Rano LGA of the state, was said to have followed a serious misunderstanding between the son, Manu Umar Adamu, and his father, Ado Adamu Hussaini, which resulted in physical fight.

During the scuffle, the father allegedly inflicted injuries on the head of his son who retaliated by beating him with a hoe to death.

The state prosecution counsel, Barrister Asma’u Ado, who presented the case, said the offence was contrary to Section 242 of the Penal Code.

However, for lack of jurisdiction, the defendant’s plea was not taken and Magistrate Rakiya Tanko ordered his remand in a correctional centre till October 22 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
