Lagos Doctor gets life sentence for rape

Dr Olufemi Olaleye, the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation has been sentenced to double life imprisonment for defiling a 15-year-old niece of his wife.

At the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday, Justice Rahman Oshodi said that the prosecution proved the two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Olaleye.

Oshodi said that the evidence adduced before the court against the defendant was compelling and proved beyond reasonable doubt.

DopeReporters gathered that the judge said the confessional statement of the defendant, which he made before his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Buruji and the DPO of Anthony Police Station that he regretted his act, proved that he committed the offences.

The judge added that Mr Olaleye’s confessional statement and exchange of WhatsApp and email messages with his wife were enough evidence against him.

Basing his judgment on the evidence from the statement and the undertaking he signed at the Anthony Police Station with his lawyer Olalekan Buruji and his NBA seal, Mr Oshodi concluded that the victim was raped and forced to suck his manhood.

Oshodi said that the oral statement which the defendant denied, had the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold waters.

The Judge said “You are a dangerous offender and you must be ashamed”
