However, Newcastle returned with renewed intensity, applying pressure and disrupting City’s attacking rhythm, especially Haaland, who was well-contained by the Newcastle defense.
In the 58th minute, City goalkeeper Ederson conceded a penalty after bringing down a Newcastle player in the box. The resulting spot-kick was confidently converted by Gordon, leveling the score at 1-1.
Despite City’s efforts to regain the lead, Newcastle’s defense held strong, ensuring both teams walked away with a point each. The draw means City dropped points in their chase for the top spot, while Aguero’s scoring record remains unchallenged by Haaland.
