FG Urges Farmers, Students To Embrace Cassava Farming

The Federal Government Of Nigeria has urged Farmers, students in the northeast region to embrace cassava farming as a means of economic diversification, employment and economic growth.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Engineer Nebeolisa Anako disclosed this in Yola, the Adamawa State capital during a two day sensitisation workshop on Bio- economic, Employment and inclusive growth using cassava Bio-Ethanol Value Chain development programme pilot

The Permanent Secretary says that the essence of bringing the six States of the North East to Adamawa is to ensure that farmers and Students are aware of their role in the implementation of cassava value Processing.

According to him, the project will not only remain at the Federal level, but cascaded through the States and local government areas, adding that the project is going to be sustainable by involving ministries to partner with Universities.

The President Association of Deans Faculty of Agriculture in Nigerian Universities, explained that the North East awareness and sensitization workshop is timely, bearing in mind the high prices of fossil fuel and its negative consequences on global climate change, Agriculture, among others.
