On September 22, 2024, he shared a touching message on Instagram along with a series of photos of them together, showing his love and gratitude for the influence his father had on him.

He wrote, “This is for my hard/loving late father; we love and miss you so much Dad. Today being your special day, I just want to say how much we miss you and thank you for shaping me into the person I am today. If no be the rough way u take follow me, i for don lost.”

“Heaven is lucky to have you. Happy Birthday dad, I’ll never forget everything you did for me and my siblings and how much you went out of your way for us all. Ur name will never be forgotten; we will make sure of that. Help hail dis Daddy, over try worry am,” he added.

Charly Boy has often talked about his rocky relationship with his father during his childhood.

In a 2023 episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, he shared how his father’s strong religious beliefs impacted his upbringing, guiding him toward a life that he later recognized wasn’t right for him.

During the interview, the singer reflected on his difficulties in living up to his father’s expectations and his religious upbringing. He noted that his short time at the seminary ended when he discovered that the journey to becoming a reverend father didn’t fit who he really was.

Later, in September 2024, on the With Chude podcast, he revealed that his problems with authority began at home, particularly with his father. He admitted that their relationship was tense for a long time, and they only started to understand each other as adults.
