Borno begins verification of over 7,000 flood victims

The Borno State Flood Relief Distribution Committee has initiated the verification process for over 7,000 victims affected by recent flooding in Limanti Ward, within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.

The exercise is being conducted at Abubakar ibn Garbai Elkanemi primary school.

This marks the second verification effort, following the earlier assessment in Gwange 1, where Governor Babagana Zulum launched the distribution exercise.

As part of the process, the names of those impacted have been publicly displayed at the district head’s palace for verification and feedback.

Similarly, a complaint desk has also been established on-site to address any concerns or omissions raised by the affected households.

Chairman Flood Relief Distribution Committee, Engr. Baba Bukar Gujibawu has reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent verification process for flood victims.

He urged those affected to remain patient, assuring them that no legitimate victim would be overlooked.

“Today, we see the community of Limanti turning out in large numbers as early as 7: am. We will meticulously follow the process to ensure that no one is left behind,” Gujibawu stated.

Governor Babagana Zulum on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of relief items to over 5,000 victims of flood disaster in Gwange 1 Ward.
