The Nigerian Military has promised to employ more strategies to achieve national peace.
Chief of Army Staff Lt .General Taoreed Lagbaja gave this assurance in Ibadan, Oyo state during the course of a quarterly media chat to enhance civil -military cooperation.
The Army Chief who was represented by General Officer Commanding 2 Div of the Nigerian Army, Major General Bamidele Alabi also charged media practitioners to remain apolitical and professional in the discharge of their duties.
The Nigerian Military has overtime been in the fore front of efforts at maintaining national peace and security but civil military relationship remains on the low ebb as public perception continues to dwindle.
This parley organized in Ibadan with media practitioners is a strategic attempt at engaging non-Kinetic means in building partnerships between the media and the military.
This media chat provides a unique platform to intimate journalists about it’s operations and build consensus and confidence with the military even as it strives to maintain peace and national security.
The event also featured a session with media practitioners where they gave their verdict on why the military must regain more public confidence if it’s serious about winning the war on insecurity.
The Army says it would improve on inter agency collaboration efforts and reverse the dimension of diminished trust while urging journalists to perform their duties more professionally.
