The Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation, Prof. James Ayatse, has announced plans to investigate allegations against some traditional rulers in the Sankera axis of Tiv nation in Benue State regarding their involvement in banditry and disruptions of peace in the region.

The Tor Tiv emphasised the need for urgent and decisive actions to restore public confidence in the traditional institution and promised to take measures against any ruler found complicit in those issues.

The royal father stated his commitment to collaborating with the Benue State Government and law enforcement agencies to identify and address those instigating criminal activities in Sankera, which includes Ukum, Logo and Kastina-Ala LGAs.

In a statement issued by Freddie Adamgbe, his Special Assistant on Media and ICT, the Tor Tiv highlighted the essential role of traditional rulers in safeguarding the cultural values and safety of their communities.

He warned against efforts by adversaries to silence those willing to provide information about criminal activities, and called on government and security forces to protect all informants.

He commended local leaders and the Bishop of Katsina Ala Diocese, Most Reverend Bundepuun Dugu, and other clergy members, for their relentless efforts and crucial meetings aimed at restoring peace in the area.

Ayatse, who urged them to continue their initiatives to achieve lasting results, regretted that despite the challenges faced by the community, some youths in Sankera have allied with external enemies, exacerbating the terror and undermining local economies and agricultural productivity.

He stressed the urgent need for a sustainable solution to the challenges.

The paramount ruler urged the people of Sankera to maintain strong faith in God, the ultimate source of change, who can inspire the hearts of those causing turmoil to cease their actions.
