7 died, 3 injured in Osun auto crash

An auto accident has claimed the life of seven commuters while three others sustained injuries at the Ogidi village axis, along the Osogbo/Gbongan Road in Osun State, South West Nigeria.

The accident involved an ash colour Nissan Sharon car.

An eyewitness said the vehicle’s driver, who was said to be traveling from Osogbo to Odeomu, was at high speed, lost control and fell into a ditch.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Osun State, Henry Benamaisai confirmed that the incident happened on Saturday.

Benamaisai said ten persons were involved in the accident.

He said operatives of the Nigeria Police Force joined the FRSC officials in the operation.

He added that two bags containing clothes were recovered from the accident scene.

The FRSC boss, however, advised motorists to always drive carefully and obey all traffic rules to avoid road crashes that may lead to loss of lives and property.
