2 charged with theft of tomato, pepper, onion

The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned two men, Ahmed Tosin (22) and Ajayi Aderemi (36), in a magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged theft of tomatoes, pepper and onion.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the suspects, on September 18, at the Enu Odi Market, Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, stole two baskets of tomatoes, okro, pepper and onion valued at N40,000; property of one Mrs Ayegbusi Rashidat.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister T. Olowolafe, urged the court to admit them to bail.

The Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till October 25 for hearing.
